Anthony Lacavera, Chairman and CEO of the Globalive Group and Wind Mobile Canada, is a Canadian-born telecom entrepreneur based in Toronto. He is also Vice Chairman of Gibraltar.
A serial entrepreneur, he founded Globalive in 1998 and co-founded Wind Mobile in 2008. Over the years, Globalive has successfully founded, seeded, financed, operated and divested various assets in the internet, communications and technology sectors.
Among his leadership accomplishments, Anthony was named “CEO of the Year in Canada for 2010” by the Globe and Mail’s Report on Business Magazine and was named one of Canada’s “Top 40 Under 40” in 2006. Under his leadership, Globalive has received numerous “Best in Business” awards, including a first ranking on Profit Magazine’s 2004 list of “Canada’s 100 Fastest Growing Companies”, selected one of “Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies” for seven consecutive years, and twice was listed as one of “Canada’s 30 Best Workplaces”.
He is an active supporter of the University of Toronto as well as the University of Toronto’s Engineering School where he graduated with a degree in Computer Engineering in 1997. Through programs such as the Next 36, he is an advocate for an entrepreneurship culture in Canada, actively mentors and finances young entrepreneurs, and lectures regularly to university and college level business students about the merits of entrepreneurship. In 2007 he founded the SHAMBA foundation, a unique charity that assists other smaller charities with fundraising and organizational efforts. The Shamba Foundation is approaching the $1 million mark in terms of funds raised for a variety of causes. Anthony is a founding member of the Art Gallery of Ontario’s “Galleria Italia” initiative.
