Javier is currently the President of L’Oréal Latin America Hispanic Zone and Mexico and he has been a part of the L’Oréal Group for over 15 years. Between April 2006 and February 2014 Javier was the President & CEO of L’Oréal Canada. As Head of Canada, he managed one of L’Oreal’s most important global markets. L’Oréal Canada, ranked tenth amongst L’Oreal’s 130 other holdings, employs more than 1200 people across three facilities in the greater Montreal region, including a high performing manufacturing plant, which services over 40 countries worldwide.

Javier’s mandate was to develop the Group’s stable of brands in Canada, and he successfully grew the Canadian business at twice the rate of the overall cosmetics market. L’Oreal’s diversified brand portfolio – which includes brands from Europe (e.g. Lancôme, Yves Saint-Laurent, Giorgio Armani, L’Oréal Paris), North America (e.g. Maybelline New York, Redken, Kiehl’s), and Asia (e.g. Shu Uemura) to name a few – offers Canadian consumers a diverse selection from which to enjoy. The successful management of this diversity in selection allowed L’Oréal Canada to fulfill its corporate mission and exceed its financial objectives.

Javier began his career at L’Oréal as Director of Operations and Finance in Russia; thereafter he subsequently managed important L’Oreal markets of increasing responsibility including Uruguay, Argentina and Romania. Prior to his joining L’Oreal, he was an executive in the Finance Department of the pharmaceutical group Sandoz (today a part of Novartis) and prior to, also worked at one of Sandoz’s subsidiaries in the Philippines as Financial Manager.

Javier holds a Master’s Degree in Law, and a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University ICADE in Spain, as well as a Post-graduate diploma from the HEC in Paris.

Fluent in four languages, Javier is and has always been civically engaged in the countries he has lived in throughout his career. Based in Montreal, his not-for-profit and business activities, take him from Montreal to Toronto on a regular basis. He is a Board Member of the Luminato Festival, an Advisory Board Member of the Schulich School of Business at York University, a member of the Executive Committee and Director of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, a member of the “Comité de pilotage du Plan d’action Montréal, métropole culturelle”, a member of the Advisory Board of Pharmascience Inc. and a Director of Atrium Innovations. Married, Javier is the proud father of three girls, the youngest of which is a proud, young Canadian born in 2008.
